Marine Medical Training
Medical Care at Sea (6 days*)
This
program offers licensed marine officers the opportunity to develop the
knowledge, skills, and confidence they will need in the event of illness or
injury at sea. In addition to immediate
care protocol, participants will learn to utilize medical telecommunications
services and their shipboard medical rETXonse
programs.
This
program meets the STCW requirements for “Person in Charge of Medical Care” and
is USCG approved.**
*Participants
in ETX’s Medical Care at Sea program after Jan. 1999
need attend only last three days.
**Completion
of a USCG-approved First Aid Provider course is a prerequisite to this program.
Emergency First Care at Sea (3
days)
The perfect program for those crewmembers most likely to assist the
“Person in Charge of Medical Care,” this program meets STCW requirements for
“Medical First Aid Provider.”
Emergency First Care at Sea (1
day)
For
marine personnel in need of current first aid and CPR certification, ETX offers
a one-day (8 hour) STCW-approved program as a “pre-course” the day before the
Medical Care at Sea course begins.
Cold Water Survival* (1 day)
In
this program, participants learn to properly plan and execute ship abandonment,
stay afloat in water, minimize the effects of hypothermia, and overcome the
stress of an emergency. During in-water
sessions, students practice safe water-entry and learn proper use of life
jackets, survival suits, and life rafts.

in conjunction with an STCW-approved cold water
survival training provider.
