EMS and Early
Defibrillation Programs
The establishment and
operation of early defibrillation programs is an essential part of every
EMS system and as such, the promotion, creation and management of
community-wide, onsite AED programs should be a vital concern of every EMS
professional and an important part of the mission of each EMS organization
and service.
In this presentation, the author will
discuss the need and the rationale for EMS’s leadership role in the
expansion and proliferation of early defibrillation programs; identify
some examples of outstanding EMS led success stories; and he will provide
suggestions for addressing this critical EMS System component. (full
